Production and Technology Our production process begins in our ranches where through the mating of the best American and Indian breeds, we have developed genetic lines that produce cattle with superior characteristics, such as low fat content, because their feeding is strictly controlled at each stage. The ranches have installations that meet the strictest sanitary controls to prevent the access of any disease. The farms division of Empacadora Continental, is dedicated to the production of coffee, cocoa and bananas, as well as breeding and fattening cattle. This division provides high quality meat with better marbling and lean content. For the transformation process of more than 50,000 head annually, Empacadora Continental has a USDA FSIS-approved plant with an american technology slaughter line and a 300 head per day capacity. We have a very modern deboning room in which every cut is produced, packed and frozen for the national market as well as the special cuts for the export market. We have a daily capacity of 300 head per day and blast-freezers to process 90,000 pounds of beef per day. Empacadora Continental has a highly qualified research group for new products, which has successfully been developing special products according to the specifications of the local and international markets. The producers payment system is based on carcass quality and warm carcass weight. This guarantees the quality in the cattle slaughtered. Considering the changing market needs, a new plant was built for processed meats with controlled weight and cooked products, individually frozen, and ready to be cooked or eaten. This way we have given the product an added value, emphasizing with this line of products, typical Honduran meals. The value added plant has technology and versatility to adapt itself to different products and volumes according to the highest profit-producing market. The slaughterhouse as well as the processed foods plant have USDA Food Service and Inspection Service approval. This is a certificate given by the U.S. Government that certifies that the plant meets the highest sanitary and operation standards. To comply with USDA standards we have implemented a H.A.C.C.P. plan, the most advanced regulation for sanitary process and control. |
